Day 1st – Fiumicino and Ostia: morning, pick up from the Leonardo Da Vinci Airport and check into B&B “La Locandiera”; then you’ll start to discover the town of Fiumicino with its harbor, the waterfront promenade, its pleasant beaches and famous fish restaurants; lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon we’ll show you the magnificent archaeological site of Ancient Ostia that reveal what everyday life must have been like in ancient times (3 hours tour with private guide); then time for leisure and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 2nd – Rome & Vatican City: after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Battistini subway station (about 30 minutes ride) and after 10 minutes subway ride we’ll be by the Vatican City to discover the wonders of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s; lunch in a typical restaurant, then we’ll walk to see Castel Sant’Angelo, the Tiber River, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (8 hours tour with private guide); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 3rd – Imperial & Baroque Rome: after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Eur Magliana subway station (about 30 minutes ride) and after 15 minutes subway ride we’ll be in downtown Rome to discover the wonders of Ancient Rome, including the Coliseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum and Capitol Hill; lunch in a typical restaurant, then we’ll walk to see Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Via del Corso and Piazza del Popolo (8 hours tour with private guide); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 4th (option 1) – Pompeii, Sorrento & Amalfi coast (about 10 hours tour total): after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Pompeii (160 miles South of Fiumicino; 2 hours and 30 minutes drive) to discover the most preserved archeological site in the world: Pompeii (private tour with local guide); lunch in a typical restaurant in Sorrento, and then we’ll drive the Amalfi coast to reach Positano: most famous village in the area; then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 4th (option 2) – Tivoli Gardens & Hadrian’s Villa: after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Tivoli (40 miles East of Fiumicino; 50 minutes drive) to discover the Renaissance Fountains and Gardens of D’Este Villa, the historical center of Tivoli; lunch in a typical restaurant and then we’ll visit the archeological site of Emperor Hadrian’s Villa (8 hours tour with private guide); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 5th – Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque Rome: after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Eur Magliana subway station (about 30 minutes ride) and after 15 minutes subway ride wie’ll be in downtown Rome to discover the Medieval Churches of St. Clement (with ancient remains underneath), Santi Quattro Coronati (with Medieval frescoes), St. Peter in Chains (Michelangelo’s Moses); lunch in a typical restaurant, then visit to the Borghese Museum, Borghese Gallery, Borghese Park, and a walk along Via Veneto:street of “la dolce vita” (8 hour tour with private guide); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 6th (option 1) – Tuscany day (about 9 hour tour total): after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Tuscany Region (130 miles North of Fiumicino; about 2 hours and 30 minutes drive) to discover the hilltop towns of Montepulciano (Medieval/Renaissance buildings & vineyards for wine tasting), Pienza (Medieval/Renaissance buildings, pecorino cheese, and view on Vald’Orcia), lunch in a typical restaurant, then to Montalcino (where the famous Brunello red wine is from); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 6th (option 2)– The hill top towns South of Rome: after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Castelgandolfo (Summer residence of the Pope, Albano Lake; 40 minutes drive); then wine tasting in a vineyard; then we’ll reach the town of Ariccia to visit Bernini’s Chigi Palace and Church of the Assunta; lunch in a typical restaurant and then we’ll visit the town of Nemi with its beautiful lake (8 hours tour with private guide); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 7th (option 1) – Umbria day (about 9 hours tour total): after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Umbria Region (128 miles North-East of Fiumicino; about 2 hours and 30 minutes drive) to discover the hilltop towns of Assisi (Medieval buildings including Church of St. Francis), Todi (Medieval/Renaissance buildings, and view on surrounding valley), lunch in a typical restaurant, then to Orvieto (Medieval building including its famous Cathedral; and vineards for wine tasting), then Civita di Bagnoreggio (Medieval buildings and beautiful landscape), then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 7th (option 2)– Cerveteri and the North area of Fiumicino: after a good local breakfast in our B&B we’ll drive you to Cerveteri town to visit Etruscan necropolis “La Banditaccia” the most ancient in the Mediterranean area; then we’ll drive to see the beautiful Orsini Castle on a side of Lake Bracciano; lunch in a typical restaurant, then wine tasting in a vineyard, then a walk in Fregene: a famous beach area 6 miles North of Fiumicino (8 hours tour with private guide); then back to Fiumicino for leisure time and dinner in a typical restaurant.

The above vacation is ideal for a couple as well as for a family with children (max 4 people), and it can be modified on the base of client’s interests; also it is possible to make a shorter vacation (minimum 3 days).

While in Fiumicino you’ll get the chance to go to the beach, to experience pleasurable walks or bicycle rides in the 18th Century Park of Villa Guglielmi, we’ll teach you how to make an Italian pizza (we have a nice wood oven in the yard!) and other local recipes. But overall in our family house you’ll get in touch with the local culture, habits, and have an authentic idea of the everyday life in Italy.
